Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept my insurance?
Strike Physiotherapy & Performance operates as an out-of-network provider, which means we don’t directly bill insurance companies. This allows us to provide treatment based solely on your individual needs, without the constraints of traditional insurance models.
While we don’t accept insurance directly, many of our patients successfully receive reimbursement from their insurance providers and can also use their Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). We recommend contacting your insurance company to ask about your out-of-network physical therapy benefits — a quick call to the number on the back of your card usually clarifies coverage. Many plans, particularly PPOs, offer partial or full reimbursement for out-of-network physical therapy services. We’ll provide all the documentation you need to submit for reimbursement.
This model lets us dedicate focused, one-on-one time with each client, leading to faster recovery and better outcomes. Unlike traditional clinics that may require multiple weekly visits in group settings, we typically schedule only 1–2 individualized sessions per week. This often results in fewer total visits, potentially reducing your overall cost when you factor in deductibles, co-pays, and the additional sessions usually required elsewhere.
Do I need to consult my doctor before starting physical therapy?
No, it’s not necessary to see a physician before starting physical therapy. California law provides direct access to physical therapy services, allowing patients to seek treatment without a physician’s referral. Under direct access, treatment can proceed for up to 45 days or 12 visits, whichever comes first — beyond that, a physician referral is required to continue.
Direct access doesn’t apply to certain cases, such as injuries from workplace incidents or automobile accidents. Otherwise, it allows quicker entry into physical therapy, shorter wait times, and greater autonomy over your treatment decisions.
Do I need to have an injury to participate in physical therapy?
No. Physical therapists specialize in the musculoskeletal system and are trained to identify movement dysfunctions and imbalances that either contribute to existing injuries or may lead to future ones. Beyond rehabilitation, we also offer performance-focused therapy using manual therapy techniques and customized corrective exercises to optimize function and enhance overall performance.
What can I expect during my first visit?
Your initial visit lasts 90 minutes. You and your therapist will have a detailed discussion about your medical history and personal goals, followed by a hands-on biomechanical assessment. Together, we’ll build a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs based on objective measurements and your stated goals, so every part of your recovery is addressed.
Can I use my FSA or HSA to pay for physical therapy?
Yes. You can use your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for cash-based physical therapy services at Strike PT.
How long is each session and how many will I need?
Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, one-on-one with your Doctor of Physical Therapy. Most patients see meaningful improvement within 4–8 sessions, though this depends on the condition, severity, and your goals. We’ll give you an honest estimate after your initial evaluation.
Where are you located and is there parking?
